Foliage Painting I
Painting photo-realistic trees and other flora is essential to any Scenic Artist's repertoire. This seminar provides a fresh approach to looking at and rendering trees & leaves realistically. Rachel Keebler leads the students as they learn and apply appropriate perspective, shape, color and texture to paint foliage.
Sign Painting I: Lettering Techniques for Film & Theatre This in-depth seminar discusses traditional sign materials, tools, alphabets, & lettering techniques for fake and aged signs, special effects, & unusual surfaces. Instructor Theresa Dringenberg draws from classical lettering training and 20 years of experience in the sign painting & scenic painting industries to guide students in sign layout, brush manipulation, and drawing & lettering serif and san serif alphabets.

Fill in the blanks of yours and the designer's perspective knowledge. Learn how to convert a designer's image into full-scale production drawings. Apply these principles to layouts for theatre, film, and television. Co-instructor Laura McPherson is a freelance U.S.A. (Local #829 NYC) Scenic Designer and Charge Scenic Artist based out of Providence, Rhode Island. Diane Fargo has a wide breadth of experience and has been the Charge Scenic Artist at the acclaimed Goodspeed Opera for 14 years.

This is a short Scenic Artists Conference designed to relieve anxiety about the work place. Cobalt Alumni and other working Scenics converge to share experiences with students and each other; recommending products, giving industry advice, and presenting portfolio pictures.

Part I This year Lance will focus on historical drawing techniques, and finish with painting from a pigment wet-palette system.
