February

Hello!

Cobalt Studios was created in 1988 to train successful scenic artists who have a positive commitment to our craft. Now itıs years later and while our mission hasnıt changed, times sure have. Thatıs why we are still proudly offering the annual Anti-Freakout Job Market Roundtable, where scenic artists converge to share their valuable up to date career experiences.

This February a bunch of us scenic artists will get together and give advice, show pictures, and share the products that are knocking our socks off.

Some of the topics covered at a typical Anti-Freakout Roundtable are:

  • Ships, store windows, and other unusual places to look for work
  • How does a Scenic Artist find a job? Keep a job?
  • Individual Networking, Associations, and Professional Organizations
  • Who are the employers? What type of people are employers looking for?
  • How do employers find artists? When are employers looking for people?
  • The Resume/Portfolio in Hiring and Interviewing
  • The Value of References and Recommendations
  • Meeting and working with Scenic Designers, Technical Directors, Production Managers
  • What makes a good working environment?
  • What should you expect in a life as a Scenic Artist?
  • Relocation — When? Why? How?
  • New Scenic Arts materials, sources, tricks, and applications

But, who said this is going to be a typical Anti-Freakout Roundtable? Only YOU can make it our best year ever, so call or e-mail me today to reserve your space. The seminar begins over dinner Friday evening, at 7:00 pm, runs all day Saturday, and those wishing to continue the conversation are welcome to stick around on Sunday morning.

There is no registration fee BUT please bring $10 for the food pot, a sleeping bag, your portfolio, resume, questions, info, wisdom, and insights. Rooms/beds are available on a first come, first serve basis. There are lots of couches and other spaces close to the toasty woodstove.

I would be delighted and honored if you would come share and exchange your know-how at this valuable networking weekend. Itıs always a thrill for us scenic artists to get together in an informal and safe setting at the Cobalt Farmhouse to talk shop. I can't wait to see you!

    Warm Regards,
